Postgraduate Studies Programme : Policy, Management and Evaluation in Education

THE PROGRAMME

Education Policy, Management, and Evaluation Master's Program is an innovative and modern master's program offered by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens' Department of Educational Studies.

From 2015 until 2018, the programme was entitled as "Educational Policy and Education Administration" ( ΦΕΚ 951, τ.Β΄, 27-5-2015 ), providing a foundation for educational unit policies and management. However, because educational facts are changing, it was re-established in 2018 by a decision of the Coordinating Committee under the new title "Policy, Administration, and Evaluation in Education" (ΦΕΚ 4100, τ.Β΄, 20-9-2018 ). Today, the programme runs with a revised study programme (ΦΕΚ  7733 Β' 2023) that recognizes the modern needs for distant learning.

As a result, two specializations were developed:

  • Education Policy and Management
  • Evaluation in Education

Education Policy, Management, and Evaluation Master's Program offers its graduates Pedagogy and Teaching Competence (ΦΕΚ 6139, τ.Β΄, 2-11-2023).

What is the programme's goal?

The programme's primary goal is to provide high-level postgraduate education in the scientific fields of Educational Policy, Educational Administration, and Educational Evaluation.
The programme includes lectures from experienced and qualified lecturers as well as external partners, all of whom aim to impart their knowledge to students in order to provide them with the resources they need to develop and seek new paths in the field of education.

Who is the Master's Program intended for?

The programme is addressed to graduates of the country's pedagogical science departments, as well as graduates of other specialties who want to deal with the educational process more broadly.
Our students come from different departments, as for example the Faculty of Philosophy, Departments of Primary and Higher Education, Departments of Physical Education, and Departments of Humanities, Social, Positive, and Technological Sciences.

What will a graduate gain?

The new graduate will be brimming with knowledge, new experiences, and skills that will assist him in better understanding and coping with modern educational challenges.
The MEd programme is firmly focused on providing graduates with the formal and substantive qualifications required. As a result, they will be able to respond effectively to the changing demands of their role in modern scientific and working conditions. All at the same, they will be better able to adapt to the challenges of reforms and changes in educational systems that are taking shape at the national and international levels.
Furthermore, the programme prepares future generations of educational researchers who will be able to contribute to the production of new scientific knowledge, as well as education executives who will promote innovations and changes in order to improve the quality of educational work at all levels of education.

Where can graduates find work?

Our graduates may work in educational institutions and structures, as well as non-educational institutions, organizations, and services.
They can work in management positions in private or public kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools.
